How Could You Do That?
Their paradigm is one of an employee, they cannot understand how it is that I can "focus" on more than one business at a time and others have the idea that it does not show loyalty to any particular company.
The reality is, you can truly on "focus" on one thing at a time. For example, if you are on the phone while driving, you are either focusing on the phone, or driving. If you are reading a book about 18th century architecture and listening to a CD on how to speak Spanish, you can only focus on one or the other.
The reality is, you can do all of these things, but can only truly do them well if you are doing one at a time.
That being said, you can go from one to the other and still be 100% successful at doing all of them; this is best done if you are not trying to "multi-task," as that does not allow you to complete your thoughts, or stay on task to get things done.
Next, I am going to share something with you now and I do not want you to take this the wrong way. I am not loyal to any one company! There is no marriage here, no contract signed, I am an entrepreneur and as an entrepreneur, my job is to find an need and fill it!
Of course I am loyal to my family, my friends, my business associates and any individual I come in contact with who deserves my loyalty, but I am not loyal to any one company in terms of exclusivity.
That would be foolish.
Why?
I am here to help as many people as possible and to make as much money as I can, as fast as I can and if I tie myself to any single company, I am limiting my ability to earn. to limit my earning ability increases my chance of failure because I would be placing all my eggs in one basket.
More importantly, if I only represent one company, product, or service, then I may as well be an employee, working to make the owners of the company rich, falling to the mercy of the industry I am in, the product line I am selling and a marketplace that is really a moving target.
Being self employed gives me the latitude to get more done in less time; these businesses only take a handful of hours to develop and maintain if you use the systems they operate under, so that leaves me with more time to earn more money, it allows me to focus on more than one thing and do it well.
Also, If I am only focusing my time in one area, then I am only appealing to one audience; I have way too much to offer, to limit the good that I can do for more people by just working within one vertical market or niche.
Here is how I have diversified myself:
Business 1: Liberty League International I run this on about 16 hours per week, not bad!
Business 2: Effective Marketing Training Series, this took a bit of time to setup, but not now; the training videos are done and the membership site is established, it comes down to marketing and maintenance about 4-6 hours per week.
Business 3: Coached To Success; being a Success Coach, following the 90 day program laid out in the Beyond Freedom program that is included has been a brilliant way to get paid over $400 per hour for my time. This is about 2 hours per week.
Business 4: The Reverse Funnel System; this has to be one of the easiest businesses, with this I only market it about 6-8 hours per week, this system is so complete, it provides incredible lead capture pages, has an auto responder system built in, with a broadcast email feature (yes, I market my other three businesses to the leads generated here) and simply, I get paid $1,000 commissions, in 95% of the cases without ever speaking to someone myself first.
All tolled, that is 32 hours per week, to put that into perspective, I used to spend 7.5 hours per week driving to and from my job, now I walk upstairs to my office. I would take about an extra 2 hours per week just getting ready (suit/tie) for work vs jeans and a t-shirt. So, in perspective, considering that I used to work between 50 - 70 hours per week in my job, plus travel time, I am way ahead and I can get more done in less time.
You do the math...
My 4 Businesses = 32 hours per week
My 1 Job Used To Take = 60 - 80 hours per week
How could you do that, they ask? How could I not do that?
